Kasargod, Mar 29: A youth who chose to attend to nature's call on railway tracks near Hosangady died after a train crushed him to death on Tuesday March 28 morning. The deceased happened to be Nagaraj Lakshmappa (20), son of Lakshmappa, resident of Kalledevaru Shivanagara in Byadagi taluk of Haveri district.
Lamani used to live in residential quarters near Hosangady railway gate since the last five years. He used to eke out a living by working as cooly. At around 6.30 am on Tuesday, he had gone with two other youngsters to near the railway tracks for defecation. A train that was moving towards the town from Mangaluru hit him, as a result of which he suffered serious injuries and lost his life on the spot.
On the basis of information provided by the two others who had accompanied Lamani, other persons living nearby went there along with Manjeshwar police. The body was taken to the mortuary of Mangalpady government hospital for postmortem.
