Udupi, Mar 26: "Chief minister Siddaramaiah and revenue minister Kagodu Thimmappa have held discussions regarding implementation of taluk status for Kaup and it will be done soon," said Kaup MLA and former urban development minister Vinay Kumar Sorake.

He was speaking in a public felicitation programme at Kaup Laxmi Janardhan temple auditorium here on Saturday March 25.

"My relegation from the post of the minister of urban development has helped in the announcement of taluk status for Kaup. I have never gone after power. I have fulfilled my responsibility making use of the opportunities available and implemented different projects," he said.

"Projects including planting of one lac saplings, construction of 6,000 houses on sites, residential quarters in municipal council limits, stress on lake and park development, construction of 9 bridges, conversion of main roads into two-lane stretches, Hejmady port development and research centre in Belapu are in progress," he said.

Kaup MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake and Kaup taluk campaign committee president 'Samaja Ratna' K Leeladhar Shetty was congratulated and felicitated on the occasion.

Karnataka state religious council member Vedamoorthi Kenja Sridhara Tanthri, Shirva St Mary’s Church parish priest Fr Stany Tauro, Kaup Jumma Masjid's Irshad Saadi blessed the occasion. National award winning teacher, scholar Kudi Vasanth Shetty delivered the congratulatory speech.
