Udupi, Mar 10: At the wake of terrorist attacks across the nation, a meeting was held at Deputy Commissioner’s office, here with a view to provide fool-proof security of Sri Krishna Math, a premier worship centre located in the city, on Monday March 10 morning.
Accordingly, the district administration has decided to vacate the petty shops and ban vehicular traffic on the car street, to ensure better security to the Sri Krishna Math and its authorities. Therefore, this meeting was held in which the vendors, taxi drivers, Deputy Commissioner Hemalatha, regional transport officer Omkareshwari, Superintendent of Police Devjyoti Roy and Sri Lakshmivarateertha Swamiji of Shiroor Math participated.
The meeting failed to take unilateral decision regarding vacating of shops and banning vehicular traffic on car street. Meanwhile, district administration has decided to extend 15 days of grace period to the general public, in order to file their objections related to this new decision.
