Beltangady, Mar 10: Three persons died on the spot and 5 were injured when a speeding private bus collided with a jeep on Puduvettu cross near Dharmasthala here on Sunday March 9 evening.
The deceased have been identified as Yugaraj (40), jeep driver and resident of Paltaje in Bilinele village, Sameer (17), son of Saidalavi resident of Kalmakar village in Sullia taluk, Fatima (35), wife of V V Ibrahim. Jeep owner Mohmmad Hanif (23), Kulsumbi (56), wife of Abdul Rahiman, Jubaida (23), wife of Mohammad Hanif, their daughter Naziya (1) and Sahina (12), daughter of Sahid Alavi sustained serious injuries in the accident. They have been admitted to a private hospital at Ujire.
Mohammed Hanif, resident of Nettana village had gone to Kajoor Dargah along with his family members on Sunday. On their way back home they aslo paid visit to museum, car museum and were driving home when a private bus coming from the opposite direction collided with the jeep. The bus was plying towards Dharmasthala. As soon as the accident occurred, bus driver fled from the place.
The accident was such ghastly that the jeep was seen thrown away at almost 15 feet distance from the accident spot.
The Beltangady police have registered a case in this regard.
