Goa will be India's first beggar-free state: Parrikar

Panaji, Mar 24 (IANS): Goa will strive to become India's first beggar-free state, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said in his budget speech on Friday.

"We will conceive a full fledged rehabilitation centre for beggars and a rehabilitation centre for destitutes," Parrikar told the Goa legislative assembly.

Parrikar also said that for a state with a high per capita income, Goa was seeing a rapid increase in the number of beggars.

Most of the beggars are in the parliament after receiving huge alms and few more will be added by giving them enough alms. The real beggar in the street will be called anti nationals. So where are the beggars?.

Beggars are those who seek alms without working or putting any effort. If Parrikar aims at that, then as a CM he should stop asking for Central Aid for Goa's development.
