Kundapur, Mar 24: "It is hard to work sincerely after taking up politics as a profession. Yet, it is important to know the hardships faced by people and respond to them. This rapport helps reach out to them. This is why I have remained active, even though I lost elections," said former MP K Jayaprakash Hegde, addressing party workers during his first visit to Kundapur BJP office on Thursday, March 23.
"Politics should not be taken as a profession as there will be no value for sincerity then. I want to work for the development of the district, even though I am not an MLA. Cooperation from every activist in the party is responsible for its achievements.
"With a strong opposition body in a democracy, the government can undertake developmental works well. And with good suggestions by the opposition, the government can perform well," he said.
Udupi district BJP president Mattar Ratnakar Hegde inaugurated the programme. Speaking on occasion, he said, "Udupi district unit stands to gain a lot with a sincere politician like Jayaprakash Hegde. This reinforces confidence about BJP wining in five Vidhana Sabha constituencies this time in the district. The loss of Jayaprakash Hegde the last time was not his personal one but it was the loss of Congress,” he said.
Kundapur BJP Mandala president Kadooru Suresh Shetty presided over the programme. BJP vice president Prakash Mendon, Kishore Kumar, Suresh Naika Kuiladi, district backward class morcha president Rajesh Kaveri, Zilla panchayat member Taranath Shetty, Raghavendra Kanchan, Supritha Kulal, Laxmi Manju Billava, Pratap Hegde, Ravi Ameen, Kundapur Mandala secretary Bhaskar Billava and others were present at the meet. Shanker Ankadakatte compered the programme.
