Kasargod, Mar 24: It is gathered that the investigating team appointed to investigate the murder of a teacher of Madrasa named Riyaz in his room in a mosque building late night on Monday March 20 by miscreants has taken three persons into custody on the basis of suspicion. They are being interrogated in a secret place. The team has been making efforts to collect information about those who planned and executed this murder, and also the whereabouts of the weapon used for the killing.
Police sources said that the three now picked up for questioning have no criminal antecedents.
The police team had initially directed their investigation on people who have been accused in murder cases earlier. During this time, they came to know that two youngsters had gone missing from their native place. After conducting searches at various places, three were taken into custody by Thursday evening, sources said. As per information, two who have been taken away for questioning are from the town.
The investigating team is led by criminal intelligence Kannur bureau superintendent of police, Dr A Srinivas. The victim, Madrasa teacher, Riyaz, a native of Madikeri, was killed in the premises of Mohiuddin Jumma Masjid at Halechoori late night on Monday by slitting his throat by a gang.
