Mangaluru, Mar 18: Midday meal workers supported by Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) on Friday, March 17, held a protest in front of DC's office demanding hike in salary.

Addressing the protestors, Balakrishna Shetty, president of CITU dakshina Kannada said, "We had submitted a memorandum to the state government requesting a hike in the salaries of midday meal workers in schools. Our requests were unheard by Chief Minsiter Siddaramaiah as nothing was done for us in the state budget. This indicates that the government does not have any sympathy on midday meal workers. CITU will hold statewide protest regarding this issue".

"Vasanth Achari, district vice-president of CITU said, "There is no difference between Modi-led central government and Siddaramaiah-led state government. The working class is suffering under both the governments".

Akshara Dasoha district president Padmavati Shetty, secretary Girija moodbidri, treasurer Bhagya and others were present.
