Kundapur: Boulder laden tipper topples after head on collision with lorry

Kundapur, March 16: Two drivers in the lorry and the driver of the tipper were injured in a head-on collision between a tipper and a lorry near Moovathumudi bus stand near Hemmadi, on Wednesday, March 15.

Lorry driver, a native of Tamilnadu,  Jayakumar (41) and another driver in the Lorry, Ponnuswamy(52) were seriously injured. The condition of Jayakumar is said to be critical.

The boulder laden tipper on its way from Kundapur to Gangolli hit the lorry approaching from Hubballi to Kerala. The accident occurred when the driver of the lorry suddenly turned the vehicle to the right side. The tipper toppled in the impact throwing the boulders off the road.

The front portion of the lorry was mangled and both the drivers in the lorry sustained serious injuries. The tipper driver was also injured. The injured are currently undergoing treatment at Kundapur private hospital.
