Bagalkote, Mar 15: Nearly 60 students at the government higher primary school at Benakatti took ill after having the mid-day meals provided to them at the school on Tuesday, March 14.
The children have been admitted to the district hospital for treatment. Doctors at the hospital said that children were out of danger.
As per details, there are 277 students in the school. After the first batch of mid-day meal was served, 60 children started vomiting. Some among them complained about diarrhoea. They were all taken to hospital immediately for treatment.
It is claimed later that a student from 4th standard, found a lizard in the sambar which was served as part of the mid-day meal. Soon after that children were found vomiting.
