Mangalore, Mar 4: Shivanatyam Institute of Visual Performing Arts (SIVA) will organize the 'Siva Dance Festival 08' on Saturday March 8 at the Town hall, informed Surya Narayana Rao the artistic director of SIVA here at a press conference on Tuesday March 4.
S Ganesh Rao, founder chairman of the city's GR Education trust will inaugurate the festival. Harikrishna Punarooru, former president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat M Raghunath Shet of city's SL Shet Jewelers and Diamond House and PP Upadhya, senior general manager of MRPL will be the chief guests, he added.
The highlights of the dance festival will be a Bharathanatyam performance by five visually-challenged artistes of Bangalore-based 'Articulate' dance troupe. 'Kuchipudi' performance by the internationally renowned artist Sanjay Shantharam, 'Kathak' dance by Sweekruth, contemporary dance by Janardhan Raj Urs and dance recital by 'Tandavas' group, all from Bangalore will also be the part of programme, Rao informed further.
Terming the festival as a visual treat to the people of the city, the artistic director said that the dance will be persented here only by male artists. Ullal Mohan Kumar and Chandrashekar Navada will be honoured on the occasion, he briefed. Chandrashekar Navada and Yamuna P Rao were present at the press conference.
