Kundapur, Mar 9: On the basis of a complaint received against a range forest officer in sanctuary section of forest department, Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths raided the residence of the said officer in the taluk on the morning of Thursday March 9. It is gathered that the officials of the department conducted simultaneous raids at four places.
As per information, Shivaram Acharya, range forest officer of Mookambika sanctuary, was the one who came under the scanner of ACB. The raid was conducted on the allegation that he has amassed wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income. His house at his native place, Ajri, Kambadakone where he currently has a house, his office at Kollur, and his nearby residence, were raided together.

The department's inspector from Udupi, Satish, led the raids conducted by over 30 personnel, it is gathered. As per information, the officials collected details of fixed assets, bank accounts, gold, cash etc in the name of the officer and family members till the afternoon, after which superintendent of police, Channabasavanna SL arrived and conducted inquest.
As per latest information, gold ornaments worth Rs 10.08 lac, Rs 8.63 lac cash, one Maruti Swift car, one Maruti 800 car, house worth Rs 70 lacs at Kambadakone, 10 cents land at Naguri, 27 cents land and 2 complexes at Ajri and 10 bank accounts have been discovered by the ACB belonging to Acharya. Details about the bank accounts are yet to be revealed.
The new house at Kambadakone was built three years back. The complainant had accused Achrya of accumulating wealth illegally. His wife works as a teacher in government school and they do not have any other income.
DySPs Arun Kumar Kolur, Sudheer Hegde, Inspectors Satish S, Ranganatha, Neelamamnavar, Dinakar Shetty, Yogeshwar Kumar, Brijesh Mathew, Krishnamurthy, Ramesh and Raghavendra were present during the raid.
