Mangaluru, Mar 9: Unidentified thieves, travelling on a motor bike, snatched away a spectacles storage box from a pedestrian who was on a walk. They had thought it to be a cellphone or purse. After realizing that their theft attempt was wasted, the thieves got angry, returned by the same road and stabbed the person from whom they had stolen the box, before fleeing.
Sundar Kalluraya (57) from Shediguri, was injured in this incident. Sundar had left his home at around 4 am on Wednesday March 8 for a walk. He reached Urwa and then took the main road to Ladyhill when two persons seated on a motor bike accosted him. They snatched away the spectacles storage box, thinking it to be a cellphone. However, they soon found out that it was neither a purse nor a cellphone, and hence was worthless for them. They then threw the box on the road.
The thieves turned their motor bike backward, stabbed Kalluraya with a knife, and went away. Sundar, who got admitted into a hospital and was treated for the wound, informed Urwa police station. Police personnel who registered the case, are investigating.
