Mumbai, Mar 3: All members of the victorious Indian Under-19 World Cup squad will receive a reward of Rs 15 lakh each, BCCI chief Sharad Pawar said on Sunday.
"The team has done a great job, have demonstrated there is a lot of potential in young players and that the future of Indian cricket is bright," Pawar said while announcing the reward.
The team will be arriving from Kuala Lumpur in Bangalore tomorrow, he said.
"We have asked the Karnataka Cricket Association and all other colleagues to accord a befitting welcome for the winners," Pawar said.
The BCCI will also be giving a reward of Rs 10 lakh each for coach Dave Whatmore and other members of the team support staff, BCCI's Chief Administrative Officer Ratnakar Shetty said.
The Indian team won the Under-19 Cricket World Cup crown after a gap of eight years with a close 12-run victory over South Africa.
This was India's second triumph in the tournament's history, after winning it last in 2000.
