Bengaluru, Mar 7: Veteran Kannada actress, Padma Kumta (58), who had won several awards during her career spanning over four decades including national award, collapsed during a shooting and died of cardiac arrest in the city on Monday March 6.
Padma has left behind husband, a son, two daughters, and scores of fans.
Padma Kumta had won national award for her acting in the film, 'Chomana Dudi', in which the film's leading actor, M V Vasudev Rao, had also won the national award in 1975.
Padma, who had of late been seen in certain television series, had taken part in shooting on Monday as per her routine. She suddenly experienced difficulty of breathing, and collapsed to the ground. Although the unit arranged to take her to hospital immediately, efforts made to revive her failed.
Padma's family sources said that her funeral would be conducted on Tuesday. Padma mainly acted as character actor in Kannada movies and several television series.
