Mangalore, Mar 1: Mangalore University All College Students Association (MUACSA) welcomes the 'favourable decision' regarding credit-based semester system made unanimously at the academic council of Mangalore University on February 16, said Dinkar Shetty, legal advisor of MUACSA here at a press conference on Saturday March 1.
Thanking the council for its unanimous decision, Shetty said that the credit-based carry over system has been designed in such a way that it does not prioritize the interests of students' fraternity. Instead, it punishes students for even small mistakes, he said.
When asked for a particular reason that prompted the association to press for amendment in the system, Shetty explained that if a student fails to clear papers in the first four semesters, that student will be barred from sitting for the fifth semester and moreover he has to wait till October. If such a misfortune repeats then the student will never be able to make a career, he feared.
Replying to a question, Shetty said the repercussion may be serious if the authority concerned fails to respond positively to the demands by the association.
Other office bearers of MUACSA were present at the press conference.
