Dubai, Mar 3: The much awaited 'Roshni Nilaya Global Alumni' annual meet was successfully held at Lotus Grand Hotel, Dubai recently.
The event was gracefully blessed by the faculty team members from Roshni Nilaya, Dr Laxmi Narayana Bhat, registrar, Dr Rameela Shekar, dean, postgraduate department, Dr Flossy Rayappan, physical education director and Joselyn Lobo, associate professor, dean, undergraduate department, were witness to the teacher-pupil relationship Roshnites have practiced under the motto of the college 'Love is made fruitful in service'.
Former Roshni students from the US, Canada, UK, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and India were present for the occasion. Each shared their experiences on the influence the institution of Roshini Nilaya had in developing their personalities and laying a strong foundation based on high ethics and service-oriented values which enabled them to achieve success in their professional and personal lives.
The evening was compered by Raymond Fernandes who is an alumni as well as former basketball coach at Roshni Nilaya. The stage for the evening was set by Roshnites Preetam Pereira, Sanjai D’cunha and Ashok Palan who gave a scintillating performance of the traditional, South Kanara dance form of Pili Vesha aka tiger dance. Delma D’Silva welcomed the alumni and faculty, followed by the alumni singing the college anthem.
Nicole Meikle, a professional in team building and behavioral skills conducted an ice-breaking / team building activity which got the team rewinding to nostalgic memories of their college days. The activity lead to the alumni of various batches from different parts of the world sharing their testimonies on the influence Roshni Nilayahas contributed towards development of their personalities both professional and personal lives.
The entire faculty addressed the gathering with their inspirational words and congratulated the Middle East Chapter team members led by the vision of Abdul Rahman Bava, with other fellow Roshnites, Nirmala Madtha, Delma D’Silva, Lancy Menezes, Mercy Fernandes, Raymond Fernandes, Ashok Palan, Sanjai Dcunha and Preetham Pereira who volunteered for conducting the first Global Alumni meet.
Professor Joselyn Lobo then initiated the formation of a core committee headed by Abdul Rahman Bava, nominated as the president of the Middle East Chapter, Pavitra Boppanna as vice-president, Veena Mukesh as secretary, Johnson D’Souza as joint secretary and Ashok Palan as treasurer.
Nirmala Madtha extended the vote of thanks on behalf of the organizing committee. Thereafter, the event began with the various entertainment shows to lighten up the mood for the evening .
DJ Harry and Glayden D’Souza left the alumni grooving to their music.

The alumni enjoyed the entire programme and at the end of the event cruised ahead to their destinations carrying nostalgic memories of their alma mater – Roshni Nilaya.
