The clinic will be dedicated to detect and screen commonly occurring disorders in women like breast cancer, uterine cancer, ovarian cancer, haemorrhoids, osteoporosis, problems associated with menopause etc so that they can be treated at the earliest.
A healthy family starts from a healthy woman. Thus even a small ailment affecting her affects the entire family. Most of the health concerns for women especially above 35 years of age can readily be resolved with a regular health check up, stated a press release.
The good news is that when these diseases are discovered early they are curable. Looking for evidence of diseases before signs or symptoms appears is the key to finding them in their early and treatable stages.
The risk factors for breast cancer include increasing age, family history, genetic predisposition, early onset of menstrual cycle, late menopause, first pregnancy at older age (after 30) or no children or no breast feeding. Other risk factors include smoking, hormone therapy, obesity and excessive consumption of alcohol. Details on breast self-examination and other tests can be obtained from the consultants during the clinic.
Problems related to menopause, menstrual cycle and other hormonal problems can be easily solved in consultation with gynaecologists followed by proper treatment protocol.
Dr Sonali (consultant radiologist), Dr S R Nayak , Dr Suchitra Thunga and Dr Vinitha as consultant gynaecologists, Dr Aparna Bhat (consultant surgeon) will be offering consultations during the clinic.
Dr Sunil Deshpande, COO, KMC Hospital said that it has been proven clinically that if diseases are identified at an early stage they can be reversed or managed with just medication. This will save people from hospitalization, the trauma of a surgery, saving on high cost and ensure a good quality of life.
