Kasargod, Feb 22: A gang, members of which alleged that a merchant died in an accident there because of the racket involved with selling of ganja, vandalized the area and torched several petty shops.
Kunhi Ahmed, resident of Kunaram in Chattanchal, who operated a petty shop at Chattanchal, had lost his life after a car knocked him down. The gang said that Ahmed lost his life due to the erratic movement of a car belonging to ganja traffickers, and that the accident occurred because of the fact that those who drove the car had consumed drugs, and hence, the car was moving haphazardly.
Before this incident, the locals had come together and held protest, condemning the accident. The protesters have been claiming that the car in question was carrying ganja, and that the drug was taken away clandestinely after the accident.
