Bengaluru, Feb 21: In a strange incident which occurred near the tollgate located at Arashinakunte near Nelamangala in the outskirts of the city, a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus suddenly caught fire at around 12.45 am on Tuesday, February  21. In this accident, a woman passenger was burnt alive, while two others suffered burn injuries.

The bus was coming to the city from Chikkamagaluru, when it went up in flames. Bhagyamma (50), residing at the eighth mile in the city, who was asleep behind he driver's seat, was the unfortunate victim of this accident. A mother-son duo of Mamata and Yash escaped with serious injuries, while 27 other passengers succeeded in getting down from the bus unharmed before flames engulfed the entire bus.

It is said that Bhagyamma was returning home after attending a funeral. Injured Mamata and Yash were admitted to Victoria Hospital where they continue to be treated.

KSRTC officer, Lingaraju, arrived on the spot and looked after the arrangements. Nelamangala police, who have registered a case, have taken both the conductor and driver of the bus into custody.

It is gathered that Mamata from Veerapura, Hassan, had distanced from her husband, Suresh, a few months back. She is in critical state, and media reports said she has expressed her desire to meet her estranged husband before she breathes her last, and has requested him to come and meet her at the hospital at any cost. It is said that the couple had married seven years back.
