Billava Women Wing Reiterate Demand for Land

Bangalore, Feb 25: Renewing its plea to the State Government for land for a polytechnic to train poor students, Billava Association Women's Convention on Sunday pledged to undertake a mission to educate, empower and organise. 
 
Speaking on the occasion, Association president M Vedakumar said a free boys hostel will be completed soon at the association site on Bannerghatta Road to house poor students. The association’s aim is to start a polytechnic to impart free training to poor students if the government allotted required land. A free girls hostel was also on the agenda.

Ms Yermal Kalpana, Civil Judge, JMFC, Hostoke stressed on education for women as means to self-empowerment and social upliftment.

Dr Anusuya Salian, Retired doctor, pledged her service to the cause of poor and proposed to conduct free weekly health camps. A recent camp held in Mangalore drew 450 patients, she added. Former Women’s Wings President K Sharadabai was felicitated on the occasion. Three presentations - educate, empower and organise- were conducted at the convention.
