Mangaluru, Feb 17: MLA, B A Mohiuddin Bava, said that a full-fledged regional transport office will become functional at Suratkal within a month.
The state government had announced its plans to open a regional transport office at Suratkal, in its budget presented three years back. Due to staff shortage, this decision could not be implemented. Appointment of staff for the office will be done after approval, and at present, the regional transport office in the city will be asked to depute a few personnel to run this office, he stated.
"The new office will issue vehicles registration certificates with the code - KA 62. With the opening of this office, pressure of work at the RTO office in the city will be eased. The camps presently being held at Suratkal, Mulky and Moodbidri for vehicle registrations and issuance of licences will henceforth be conducted at Suratkal office. The government has made all preparations for the opening of a full scale regional transport office here," he added.
