Udupi, Feb 23: Senior member of well-known Haradi Pai family and former DGM of Syndicate Bank H V Pai (86) passed away in his daughter's house at Chennai on Friday February 22 morning.
H V Pai was a person of great repute during and after his stint with Syndicate bank. His relationship with customers had always been the reason of his success in profession. Despite maintaining a low profile he used to keep himself busy with various social activities.
His professional life which began as the first secretary of Maharastra Apex in 1949. When the latter merged with Syndicate bank in 1953, H V Pai joined Syndicate bank from where he offered his services as developmental officer for three years to Kanara Mutual Assurance. After returning to Syndicate bank in 1953, he offered his services as divisional manager.
His steady rise in professional life was largely owing to his intellectual capacities and his simple and humble nature. He rose to the position of DGM of Syndicate bank in 1978 before getting retired from professional life in 1980.
After retirement he stayed in Manipal and kept himself engrossed with social welfare activities. He was the trustee and later managing trustee of Shri Lakshmi Venkatarama Temple between 1994-2002. His contribution for the development of his famous temple will surely always be remembered. He committed himself for the welfare of LVT and was the trustee of the temple to the end. He had also worked towards the formation of Federation of Managing Committees of GSB Temples of undivided Dakshina Kannada district.
H V Pai is survived by wife and two daughters.
