Bantwal, Feb 14: A student, who had been bitten by a snake at Madhwa village in Kavalapadur village of the taluk, failed to respond to treatment and breathed his last the next day.
The victim was Dhananjay (18), son of Chennappa Gowda from Kavalapadur. He was studying hotel management at a college in Mangaluru. He was on a visit to his native place, Kavalapadur, when misfortune struck.
Dhananjay was walking on a narrow path near his home on Saturday, when he felt that something had bitten him on his leg. As he suspected snakebite, he went to a doctor of native medicines, applied the medicine given to him for his wound and went home. As he developed health complications at night, he was admitted into the hospital at Beltangady. However, he died on Sunday without responding to treatment.
A report about this unnatural death was registered at the rural police station here. The deceased has left behind his parents and three sisters.
