Bangalore: Hospital Ransacked after Patient’s Death

Bangalore, Feb 21: Tension prevailed in Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital after family members and relatives ransacked it following the death of a patient. The protest against the hospital authorities took place at around 7.30 pm on Wednesday.

Hemalatha alias Hemavathi (28), who was nine months pregnant was admitted with labour pains at 6.45 pm. She suffered an epilepsy attack and died at 7.15 pm.

Her family and friends starting pelting stones at the window panes. They destroyed the furniture and ransacked the labour ward. They then attacked a nurse and two trainee doctors for dereliction of duty.

Hemalatha was a resident of Cox Town and daughter-in-law of Krishnappa who lodged a complaint. A counter complaint has been lodged by the hospital authorities in Shivajinagar police station.
