Udupi, Feb 11: AVBP, the student wing of BJP, demanded Mangalore University authorities to resign their post on their failure to give the students their marks cards, and being solely responsible for the problem. "The authorities of Mangalore University created the problem through discrepancies in marks announced for undergraduates, a year ago," said the AVBP district secretary Subhoda while addressing the protesters near MGM College, Udupi on Saturday, February 11.
"Last year, students were not given their marks card in time and lost out on higher education and job opportunities. This is the tragedy of our education system. Mangalore University Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, and other are persons in great positions, are particularly responsible all these problems."
Students earlier paid Rs 60 for the announcement of results to private organisations, but now we pay Rs 120, which is double the value, yet we face the same problem even now. This shows the failure of Mangalore university exam board," said the protestor.
"Mangalore University has collected the exam fees per student as Rs 850 for exam fee, Rs 200 for online fee, Rs 100 for mark card fee, Rs 200 for application fee, totalling the fees we pay to as much as Rs 1350. Is this a required amount for exams? Compared to Private Colleges, Mangalore University receives more money from students, which shows the level of corruption in the University.
What was the need for the university to adopt a new system when the old system was working properly? Earlier, Mangalore University was known for its prompt and proper announcements of results. But now, the university has goofed up on the results," the protestor added.
MGM college's Anupoo, AVBP all college president Udupi district Shailesh, Santhosh ,Prannthi ,Sushmitha and other college students were presented at the protest.
