Udupi: Woman dies after clothes catch fire when stoking kerosene stove

Udupi, Feb 7: A woman who was trying to stoke fire in a kerosene stove unfortunately died after fire from the stove spread to her clothes. The victim, Mamata alias Chaitanya (23), was working in her single room house on Sunday February 5 when the incident occurred.

Chaitanya, daughter of M Yallappa from Sorab taluk in Shivamogga district, had married Jayaram two years back. The couple was living in a rented room owned by Raghukumar Poojary at Jodukatte, Hiriyadka in Bommarabettu village in the taluk since sometime.

After Chaitanya was engulfed by fire, her husband tried to save her. He was also injured in this incident. Chaitanya was admitted into Kasturba Medical College Hospital at Manipal thereafter but she could not be saved.
