Mangaluru, Feb 5: In connection with the plan reportedly hatched to help Dinesh Shetty, who has been lodged in Hindalga jail after being sentenced in advocate, Naushad Kashimji murder case in the city, the police made another arrest on Friday February 3. The person now arrested has been identified as Laundry Ganesh Shetty (35) from Bijai in the city. Allegedly, he is an associate of underground fugitive, Ravi Poojary.

With Shetty's arrest, the number of persons taken into custody in this case has gone up to seven, as six persons had been arrested from Belagavi by the police there recently. Police personnel from Belagavi got in touch with the police in the city and arrested Shetty from Bykampady here. The Belagavi police are searching for another accused, Gulam from Bengaluru, in this case.

The Belagavi police had said that the gang had planned to help Dinesh Shetty escape from police. As per the plan, Dinesh was to act like sick, and the gang was to intercept police vehicle and ambulance when he was to be taken to hospital for medical examination. The police also had found during interrogation of the gang members that the same gang had waylaid Abdul Khader, an areca merchant from Guthigar and resident of Bayambadi in Bellare, when he was moving in his car with his workers at Aivarnadu. Khader's workers, Shafiq Abdul Jasir and Basavaraj were with him at the time. The gang had wielded weapons and robbed cash, cheque book, and cellphones from four persons inside the car before fleeing. The gang members had later confessed to the police that they were trying to pool money to finance jail break plan.
