Kasargod, Feb 4: The skull and skeleton of a youth reported missing for the last three months was found in a private coconut plantation belonging to Chattanchal – Padooru road contractor at Chattanchal on Saturday February 4.
The remains have been identified as those of Chattanchal Kavumbala Ukrampadi resident, Sunil Kumar (32).
He had been out of his house three months ago and had not returned. Workers who noticed the skull when they came to water the coconut trees informed the Vidyanagar police station.
The police who arrived, verified the skull and found other remains of the body nearby. Sunil Kumar's mobile, sandals and shirt were found under a tree in the vicinity. Police suspect that he had committed suicide by hanging from the tree. They said that the remains will be sent to a forensic laboratory.
Vidyanagar police had been on the lookout for the missing person following complaints from his house members after he went missing. Sunil was a worker at the coconut plantation. The reason for his death is not known. Police are investigating.
