Sullia, Feb 3: Police personnel of district crime intelligence bureau (DCIB) have arrested a person who had reportedly stolen mobile phones from a shop. Cellphones worth Rs 1.20 lac were seized from his possession.
The arrested man happens to be Vivek Y V (22), from Jodupal Yaladala in Madikeri taluk. 15 high-end cellphones were recovered from his possession. He was arrested when trying to sell the stolen phones at Sullia.
A case about the theft of cellphones from a mobile shop located on the first floor of a commercial complex located at Panja bus stand on January 1, had been filed at Subrahmanya police station.
The arrest was made by DCIB inspector, Amanulla and Sullia circle inspector, Krishnaiah, under the guidance of Puttur deputy superintendent of police, Bhaskar Rai. District superintendent of police, Bhushan G Borase, has issued commendation letters to the team members for this feat.
