Kuwaiti visa ban on 5 Muslim-majority countries, including Pakistan

Kuwait City, Feb 2 (IANS): Kuwait has suspended the issuance of visas for nationals of Syria, Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran.

After US President Donald Trump's executive order banning seven Muslim-majority countries last Friday, the Kuwaiti government has told would-be migrants from the five banned nations to not apply for visas, as it is worried about the possible migration of radical Islamic terrorists, Sputnik International reported.

Under the executive order signed by Trump, refugees from all over the world will be denied US entry for 120 days while all immigration from so-called "countries with terrorism concerns" will be suspended for 90 days. The countries included in the US ban are Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen.

Kuwait was the only nation to prohibit the entry of Syrian nationals prior to Trump's executive action. Kuwait City previously issued a suspension of visas for all Syrians in 2011.

A group of militants bombed a Shia mosque in 2015, killing 27 Kuwaiti nationals. A 2016 survey conducted by Expat Insider ranked Kuwait one of the worst nations in the world for expatriates, primarily due to its strict cultural laws.

As a member of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Kuwait has become embroiled in escalated tensions between the GCC and Iran. Washington has been a guarantor of GCC security since the early 1990s, according to a Congressional Research Service brief.

Observers have pointed out that most of the nations on Trump's list have substantial Muslim populations and are experiencing some form of economic or military conflict.

    Nothing new.
Kuwait has a practice of banning many countries temporarily and again allowing them.
At least 5 times they have done this with Pakistan and many other countries like Yemen, etc.
Once a British citizen was sent back because he came with a Yemeni wife. He was told to send his wife back or return to whereever he came from.

But what makes them to change the rule after few days is not clear. Wait and see.

At least now let those protesters, rights activists and critics of Trump understand, be it US or Kuwait, visa ban on these nationals have imposed for security reasons and not as a prejudice on religious grounds or as a discriminatory measure. Trump's action is the outright result of what has happened in the US, France, Belgium and Australia; owing to the influx of refugees from Syria and Iraq.

    Guys wakeup!

These are just news headlines and sparks!
Give a thought. Who will do the pilled up labor work? That construction and hard jobs.

Arabs can never do it and Arabs cannot pay a huge wage for an american or european.

Those who are in Gulf they know well and seeing daily as from where the construction workers and hard job holders are.

These are temporary gimmicks, a ban like this is practically not possible.

    Dear Brother Allan,
No country in the name of religion survived for long,no one desire too build India in the name of Hindu,
There may be some in that view but its not at all suitable and agreeable even.
We need a beautiful country with all community, creed, religion, all should live with mutual respect to each other.
The country where religion comes second and nation comes first.
    Jai Hind.

This is just what i wanted to say . When people like Mahendra shetty keep on writing nagging comments which doesn't make sense you need to give a reply. Secondly some of the political members are just giving hate speeches against other religions and are hell bent on creating hindu rashtra. This creates disharmony between everyone.

People are rushing to blame President Donald Trump for his ban. Now that Kuwait which is a muslim country has imposed a similar ban people should understand that Trump is not wrong.
Many terrorists have sneaked into Europe pretending to be refugees and the results are there to see. Genuine asylum seekers and those who are persecuted are suffering because of this . Many so called refugees want to migrate to a country that has entirely different culture but will selectively follow their customs and rules.

The Dubai police chief has supported the ban enforced by Trump, as those countries were on the security watch list for Dubai too.

Besides Kuwait, there are other Muslim majority countries in the region that have put a ban on other Muslim majority countries. Do you think that Saudi, the GCC would freely issue visas to people from Yemen, Somalia, Libya, Algeria, Syria, Iraq just to name a few?

For the world to be a better place and we all could live happily, the best rule is to treat people the way we all like to be treated.
