Beltangady, Feb 2: A person who had stolen ATM card and Rs 8,700 from a pilgrim on a visit to temple town Dharmasthala sometime back, was found and arrested from Andhra Pradesh by the police. In this case, Lokesh from Anekal, Bengaluru, was the pilgrim who had lost his purse in this theft incident.
The thief in question has been identified as Srinivasulu from Renukanagara in Poonapalli in Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh.
After losing his ATM card and cash, Lokesh had filed a complaint in Dharmasthala police station. Police circle inspector here, Nagesh Kadri, working with sub-inspector, B S Ravi and team, found out that the ATM card in question had been used by the thief to buy gold ornaments from a jewellery shop at Mangaluru. The policemen went there, checked the CCTV footage of the culprit, and succeeded in identifying him. A team went to Andhra Pradesh and arrested him. The ATM card stolen by him and the items bought by using the card have been seized from his possession.
Police circle inspector, Nagesh Kadri, sub-inspector, Ravi B S and others conducted the investigation under the guidance of Dakshina Kannada district superintendent of police and Bantwal deputy superintendent of police.
