Bantwal, Jan 29: A policeman serving in the district crime investigation bureau (DCIB) died of cardiac arrest late night on Saturday January 29.
Dinesh B K (45) from Karmala in Puttur, was serving as assistant sub-inspector in the Mangaluru DCIB branch.
On Saturday night, he was returning home from duty, when, on reaching Neralakatte, he took ill. The locals immediately called for an ambulance and rushed him to a hospital in Mangaluru.
However, as he was a diabetic too, he failed to respond to treatement and suffered a fatal cardiac arrest on Saturday night, sources said.
Dinesh had served in Beltangady, Bantwal rural, Bantwal town, Subramanya and Sullia police stations. He was then transferred to the IGP office and later promoted as ASI in the DCIB. He was known as a people-friendly cop who earned the respect of his seniors in the department too.
He leaves behind his wife and a son.
The funeral was held in Puttur. SP Bhushan G Borase, ASP Vedamurthy and other police officers visited the bereaved family and paid their last respects.
