Mangalore, Feb 13: AHINDA, a movement to deliver social justice, strongly condemned the forcible attempt to make C S Dwarakanath, chairman of the State Commission for Backward Classes, drink 'a form of liquid brought in bottle' labelling it teertha at Kodagu recently on his official visit.
Vasudev Bolar, president of AHINDA addressing media persons here on Wednesday February 13 to specify the stand of AHINDA about the 'forcible attempt' and the unilateral decision made by the bar council of Hubli not to defend the suspected terrorists.
Action must be taken against Bopaaih, a former MLA of Kodagu and the police who failed to protect the chairman from being subjected to the torture and the hands that carried out the act 'against personal wishes,' he added.
A delegation would meet the governor in the near future in this regard, the president said.
Terming the unilateral decision by the bar council as 'illegitimate and against ethics of advocacy,' the working president Lolaksha said ensuring judicial process is essential and necessary in highly sensitive issues like the terrorism. 'We are not in favour of people who have been taken into police custody and we will be the first persons to advocate that guilty must be punished with rigorous imprisonment and death by hanging,' he added.
Reiterating the cooperation of the council to allow judicial intervention into the investigation, BA Mohammad Hanif, chief secretary said arguing on behalf of anyone is personal opinion but forcing the whole fraternity to abandon the practice is unfair.
Lauding the efforts by the state police for their penetration into the invulnerable terrorist activities, the working president said 'judicial intervention' must be allowed. He also requested the media to not exaggerate reports.
