Leelavathi
On December 8, Kamala had come to her daughter Leelavathi’s house at Pilar near Ullal. Kamala and Leelavathi’s mother-in-law Janaki went to the nearest forest to fetch firewood. When honey bees attacked them, they shouted for help. Leelavathi went to help her mother and mother-in-law. But she also experienced honey bee attack. Leelavathi’s husband Sridhar, who came to the place, took all three women to the hospital and admitted them there.
Kamala died on the same day at the hospital while daughter Leelavathi followed her after 7 weeks when the treatment failed to save her.
It is said that Sridhar too was attacked by bees. He and his mother Janaki recovered later.
