Mangalore, Feb 12: The Mangalore University Economics Association and St Aloysius College will jointly organize the annual state-level conference on economics on Saturday, February 16, at St Aloysius College auditorium.
The theme of the conference will be ‘Development of Coastal Karnataka: Possibilities and Problems.’
M Veerappa Moily, chairman of Administrative Reforms Commission, will inaugurate the conference at 9.30 am. Dr G V Joshi, professor of economics and dean of faculty of arts, Mangalore University will deliver the keynote address. Fr Swebert D’Silva, principal of St Aloysius College will preside over the programme. Capt John Prasad Menezes, former president of Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) and V K Talitthaya, president of Primacy Industries Limited, will be the resource persons.
Members of the association who bagged PhD and M Phil degrees, top scorer of economics in University B A examination as well as retired members of the association will be felicitated during the inaugural function. Text books written by the members will be released on the occasion.
Around 200 economics lecturers from first grade colleges and PG centres will attend the annual conference which is being conducted regularly since the inception of Mangalore University Economic Association during 1983 – '84. Those who wish to attend the conference should register their names in advance.
