Udupi Feb 12: Bangalore-Mangalore train to Karwar should be extended demanded the Udupi Railway Yatri Sangha here in a press release issued by their office.
R L Dias, the adviser of the Sangha in the release justifying their stand stressed that, the train service benefited only the people of Dakshina Kannada district.
Further the Sangha demanded additional coaches for the Mangalore-Mumbai Matsyagandha Express and stated that the coaches should be increased to 22. Moreover they also wanted the Jan Shatabdi Express between Mangalore and Mumbai be revived once again.
Among the other points made in the press release was that the weekly Kochuveli-Chandigarh Sampark Kranti Express should be allowed to halt at Udupi. Special trains should be run between Mangalore and Mumbai during summer and winter.
Moreover the Railway police station at Manipal should be shifted to Udupi. A pay booth be started for taxis and auto-rickshaws at Udupi Railway Station. And lastly coin booth facility for platform tickets should be installed at the railway station, informed the release.
