Bengaluru, Jan 25: A signature campaign to expel senior BJP leader K S Eshwarappa has begun. Supporters of state BJP chief B S Yeddyurappa have started this campaign.
Sources in BJP say that as many as 20 MLAs, five MLCs and two MPs have signed a letter addressed to BJP national president Amit Shah. The letter seeks disciplinary action against Eshwarappa for indulging in 'anti-party' activities. The initiative of this campaign was taken by Yalahanka MLA S R Vishwanath.
It is also said that 94 former elected representatives have also signed this letter, which could not be confirmed.
As per the information available, the campaign was launched after Eshwarappa started associating himself with the Sangolli Rayanna Brigade, a forum of OBCs and the Dalits.
Yeddyurappa has openly opposed the idea of Sangolli Rayanna Brigade.
The letter openly refers to the association of Eshwarappa with the Brigade and quotes his statements. It says Eshwarappa’s behaviour has dented the party’s image and also divided the party cadre.
The letter also says that if Eshwarappa does not dissolve the Brigade and work for the party, then stern disciplinary action should be taken against him.
Some signatories include legislators Arvind Limbavali, Aravind Ballad, B Suresh Gowda, Anand Mamani, Prabhu Chauhan, B Y Raghavendra, B J Puttaswamy. The letter will be dispatched to Shah on Wednesday, January 25.
Yeddyurappa and Eshwarappa presently are not on speaking terms.
