Bengaluru, Jan 22: Federation of Konkani Catholic Associations (FKCA) has announced its annual Federation Day Awards for three noted achievers.
FKCA has been identifying eminent personalities who have excelled in their professions and social service and has been honoring them on its annual Federation Day. This year too, three personalities who have contributed to Konkani will be honoured in recognition of their yeoman contribution to building up society:
FKCA will confer the Lifetime Achievement Award on Irene (Pinto) Castelino, renowned writer who has been bestowed the titles 'Konkani Triveni' and 'Hoysala of Konkani'.
The Professional Excellence Award will be presented to Meena Rebimbus, wife of the legendary Wilfy Rebimbus, and an established singer in her own right from the past 50-odd years.
The Entrepreneur of the Year Award will be conferred on Walter Nandalike, founder of Daijiworld, a first generation entrepreneur who has reached remarkable heights in the media industry in a short
span since its inception.
The awards will be presented on the FKCA Federation Day to be held on January 29 at 5.30 pm at St Joseph's Indian High School Grounds, Bengaluru.
D V Sadananda Gowda, union minister for statistics and programme implementation will grace the occasion as chief guest, while Archbishop of Bengaluru Dr Bernard Moras will preside over the ceremony.
Ivan D'Souza, MLC and chief whip of the state Legislative Council, J R Lobo, MLA, Mangaluru South, Dr C N Ashwath Narayan, MLA, Malleshwaram, and Roy Castelino, president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy, will be the guests of honour.
