Mangaluru, Jan 19: The Republic Day parade on January 26 in New Delhi, an event watched on television by millions across India, will be a very special one for Mangaluru, as one of the city lass will be seen marching along the Rajpath with sea of personnel of armed contingents.
Nishel Almeida, a class 9 student of St Aloysius High School, Kodialbail and a young talent in the National Cadet Corps (NCC) air wing has been selected for this year's Republic Day parade as an all-rounder cadet.
Naveen D'Almeida and Chris Evert, hailing from Kulshekar are the proud parents of Nishel.
Nishel is a multi-faceted teen with talents like singing, dancing, compering, dramatics, poetry recital, essay writing and public speaking. With constant encouragement from her home and school, Nishel could mould herself into what she is today.
Nishel's excellence in march past and shooting in air wing is an added feather in her cap. Nishel credits her success to her family members, teachers and especially the school NCC ANO Sunil Lobo who helped her climb the ladder of success.
Like every success story, Nishel's hardwork, passion, concentration and firm resolve has helped her scale the mountain of success. She had to prove her mettle in the qualifying rounds in the preliminary camps conducted at Alva’s Moodbidri, Mysuru and Bengaluru. Nishel emerged as the best cadet in all the camps. Living in unfamiliar weather conditions of various places, Nishel came out with flying colours.
This lass from the coastal region intends on becoming a fighter pilot from her childhood. Nishel has set an example for all girls in the country to follow. This rare feat deserves applause from every quarter as Nishel has proved that the fairer sex is second to none.
