Sullia, Feb 5: The acid attack on local lawyer Venkappa Gowda almost a year ago had been the talk of the town for long.  Now after a brief period of lull, the case has hit headlines once again but with a U-turn.  Usman, the prime accused in the case has now filed a case against the victim, Venkappa Gowda, for allegedly abducting his wife.

Usman has alleged that the lawyer had abducted his wife, with the help of Robert D’Souza, Umesh Shetty Madhav and Khalid, residents of Gandhi Nagar near here. 

Usman who was accused of acid attack on the lawyer, along with his wife, had been imprisoned at Mangalore sub-jail.  His wife was believed to have arrived at sub-jail to see her husband three months ago.  However, she managed to reach Puttur from where she was abducted.  Usman has now said that Venkappa Gowda is the mastermind behind her abduction.

On the other hand Venkappa Gowda has stated that he has been victimized and that the allegations made by Usman are baseless.
