Saudi Arabia, Jan 3: The inaugural Jotun Cup Big Bang Corporate League day/night softball tournament was launched at a glittering ceremony at Salt N Pepper Restaurant on Monday December 26. The BBCL committee has launched the Corporate Cricket League to encourage softball cricket in Saudi Arabia.
BBCL tournament 2016 was sponsored by Jotun Paints, powered by Indomie, Ethopian Airlines and Pepsi. The tournament began on December 30 with the inaugural match between GSAL and INDOMIE at BMT Floodlit Ground, Bani Malik. The tournament was played on Friday and Saturday from 4.00 pm to 12.00 am.
The initial league stage will be followed by the playoffs and a Grand Finale. The tournament will last four weeks and the final is scheduled for January 21.

Officials from the BBCL organizing committee, TCF, JPL, JCT and JDT, sponsors, media, along with captains and managers of the ten participating corporate teams attended the function.
Muzammil Riyaz welcomed the representatives of the sponsors and co-sponsors including Faisal Kareem (Jotun Paints), Renalda Siswadi/Akbar Abdul Hadi (Indomie) and Bahrom (Ethiopian Airlines). The other prominent guests were Mohammad Omar Ba’Jamaal (Arcoma) and Naeem Khan (ALJ Toshiba).
The ceremony began with a recitation of the verses from the Holy Quran. Ayazuddin Irfan presented a brief history of BBCL. The BBCL coordination committee comprises of Jaweed Ahmed, Syed Shareefuddin Sami Khan, Ahmad Abdul Rahman, Muzammil Riyaz, Syed Afzal, Rafiullah, Anwar Khan, Ayazuddin Irfan, Wasi Rabbani, Mujtaba Quraishi, Samar and Irfan Dayyani.
The BBCL committee urged the teams to abide by the rules and regulations of the tournament for the smooth conduct of the tournament.
Faisal Kareem appreciated the efforts of BBCL and its committee members and extended full support for the upcoming events.
Naeem Khan, a well known personality in Jeddah and a veteran cricketer in Saudi Arabia, highlighted the importance of excellence in organizing such events and had a word of praise for the BBCL co-ordination committee.
The BBCL committee provided coloured T-shirts, trousers and caps to all the ten corporate teams, umpires, scorers and volunteers.
The trophies for the winners and the runners-up were unveiled by Faisal Kareem and Renalda Siswadi/Akbar Abdul Hadi, Bahrom along with other guests for the evening, Mohammad Omar Ba’Jamaal (Arcoma) and Naeem Khan (ALJ Toshiba) wished best of luck to all the teams.
