Mysore, Jan 31: The diocese of Mysore celebrates the World Peace Day on January 30 every year. No doubt this year it has been something very special. Thanks to the leadership and animation of very energetic secretary for Inter-religious Dialogue Fr Archie Gonsalves, OCD, the rector of Pushpashrama and Msgr N S Marie Joseph, parish priest of the Cathedral.
The programme was staged in front of St Philomena’s Cathedral. Bishop Thomas Anthony Vazhapilly of presided over the function and appreciated this unique venture towards peace on the 60th death anniversary of the Father of the Nation.
Msgr Marie Joseph, parish priest of the Cathedral welcomed the dignitaries. Swami Vireshanandji of Ramakhrishna Ashram delivered a touching message of peace in Hinduism. Shabeer Ahmed, president, Organization for Harmony and Peace, highlighted the significance of peace in Islam.
Msgr J B Xavier, vicar general, Hemalatha and Sr Narsita, CSST were also present. Fr Archie Gonsalves proposed the vote of thanks. The cultural items were outstanding. They were contributed by various institutes of Mysore. Following groups performed at the programme:
