Karkala, Dec 18: When he was nine, he lost his father. When he was 18, he lost his mother. But then he stood on his own two feet and got his two sisters married. Now, he is fighting for his life in a private hospital in Mangaluru.

This is the heart-wrenching story of Wilson Andrade (27), a resident of Belman, who met with an accident on November 26 at Mulky-Karnad junction and is now in coma.

Born as the only son of Francis Andrade (Pakka), Wilson had found his daily bread in a furniture shop in Belman. When he was on his way to Mulky by virtue of his profession, he collided with a goods tempo which crossed his path and was admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru. He was shifted to the MICU (medical ICU) and is currently under observation. The doctors who are treating Wilson have said that he could remain in the state of coma for two to three months or more .

After his father''s death, Wilson and his two sisters grew up in his neighbourhood under the care of Raymond Tellis (Wilson''s cousin) and Joyce Tellis who nurtured Wilson like their son along with their own children. Wilson''s mother was also taken care of by the couple until her death.

"Wilson has been a responsible boy and has very good habits. He stood on his own feet and got his two sisters married. We were planning for his marriage and all of a sudden, fate dealt him a big blow once again," says Joyce Tellis, Wilson''s caretaker.

"Wilson''s treatment costs Rs 10,000 - 15,000 every day. We are trying our best to meet these expenses but Wilson is still in coma, and it has become tough for us to cope up with the expenses. Even his sisters are not well to do. Hence we seek help from generous donors so that Wilson recovers from this state and returns to normal life," Joyce says.
