Bengaluru, Dec 16: The petition filed by Dakshina Kannada district Kambala Samiti seeking permission from the high court (HC) to organize Kambala in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts came up for hearing on Thursday December 15.
In view of the fact that the HC had stayed organization of Kambalas through an order issued on November 22 when considering a public interest litigation filed by People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), the Kambala Samiti had filed interim application seeking permission to hold Kambalas.
The division bench of the HC presided over by chief justice S K Mukherjee and justice R B Budihal refused to grant permission as requested immediately. It adjourned the hearing, after ordering issuance of notice to PETA for filing of objections if any.
