Bengaluru, Dec 12: Congress Vice-president Rahul Gandhi will be visiting Belagavi to address a convention of party workers on Saturday, December 17.
Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President Dr G Parameshwara, Working President Dinesh Gundu Rao and KPCC Women’s Wing President Lakshmi Hebbalkar have been making arrangements for the convention.
The ruling party is making all out efforts to mobilise nearly a lakh party workers for the convention.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and other ministers as well as party leaders are expected to attend the convention.
With Rahul Gandhi taking up the cause of poor people, farmers and middle classes, especially the rural population, who have hit hard by the decision of the Narendra Modi government of demonetising the Rs 500 and Rs 1000 high value currency notes without making adequate alternative arrangements to replace the 86 per cent of currency withdrawn, the Belagavi convention is likely to take up the issue further.
