Mangaluru, Dec 7: St Agnes school held its Annual Day celebrations on two consecutive days - December 1 and 2 in the school premises at 5 PM. The curtains unfurled with the chief guests Kavitha M Shastri, past district governor of the Lions Club International, and Jeevan Saldanha, president, Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Mangaluru.
Kavitha Shastri credited the relationship between parent, teacher and student as one that builds a strong rapport during the child’s formative years.
In his presidential address, chief guest Jeevan Saldanha adviced the students to keep away from consuming junk food as it is hazardous to health, give due importance to environmental cleanliness, and to segregate waste before its disposal.
Meritorious students in academics and sports were honoured by the chief guest. The principal, Sr Jyothi Saldanha, welcomed the guests and the gathering. The other dignitaries on the dias included Dr Sr Maria Roopa, superior and joint secretary of St Agnes convent and Jane Saldanha, parent representative.
All students presented a colourful cultural programme which was cheered with a huge round of applause from the audience.
Teachers, Janet Antony and Josephine Ignetto compared the programme while Nisha Fernandes and Raina Coelho proposed the vote of thanks.
