Udupi, Dec 7: Preparations for the inauguration of Holy Family Church, Brahmavar are in the final stage. A 12 ft high statue of Jesus Christ was installed at the front of the church facing national highway 66 on Wednesday December 7.
Fr Antony Vaz, parish priest of Holy Family Church, Ravi Prakash Gonsalves, vice president and Jeswin Lewis, secretary of Pastoral council and parishioners were present here.
Speaking to Daijiworld the parish priest said, "Work is in the final stage of completion. The idol which was installed today welcomes devotees to the church. On this occasion I wish the Lord shower his blessings on all the devotees who come to Him."
Talking about the speciality of the idol he said, “The idol is twelve feet high, weighs around five hundred kilos and is made of fiber. The idol is manufactured by Simon Company Mangaluru and donated by Melwyn Cynthia Almeida and family.”
A grand inauguration of the newly built church will be held on the day of Feast of Holy Family. Bishop of the twin diocese will be present on the occasion. Superior general of Holy Trinity Province of Karnataka will inaugurate the church on Wednesday December 28.
