Udupi, Dec 7: “A petition urging for the creation of Kaup taluk in the next budget is already submitted to the chief minister and revenue minister. Positive response is received from both the sides,” said former minister, Kaup MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake.
He was speaking at a ground breaking ceremony for the construction of a new building for Kaup municipal council with an estimated cost of Rs five crore. “The amount was set aside for the work,” he said.
“It is promised that the work will not be confined to the office, but will be in the form of a government complex within a year. A proposal for the construction of taluk office, mini Vidhana Saudha and horticulture park is also submitted to the government,” he said.
Rs 180 crore funds expected:
Rs 47.50 crore are requested and expected under S R Project, Rs ten crore under city development project, Rs 7.50 crore for disposal of trash along with 10 acre land, Rs five crore under SC/ST project, Rs five crore for crematorium, park and lake, Rs 35 crores for UDG implementation and Rs 70 crores for permanent drinking water project.
Kaup municipal council president Saumya S, vice president K H Usman, standing committee president Abdul Hameed, opposition party leader Arun Shetty Padooru, council members, chief officer Rayappa, grama panchayat Okkoota president Dr Devi Prasad Shety, C A Bank president Kaup Diwaker Shetty, engineering division officers Chandrashekar, D V Hegde, contractor Devi Prasad Constructions managing director K Vasudeva Shetty, Kaup block congress president Navinchandra J Shetty, Karnataka fisheries development corporation director Deepak Kumar Ermal were present.
Kaup municipal council chief officer Rayappa welcomed everyone. Appointed director Harish Nayak proposed the vote of thanks. Lecturer Shivanna Bayar compered the programme.
