Mangaluru: Chain snatchers held - stolen items recovered

Mangaluru, Dec 7: Two ladies accused of snatching away golden chains worn by ladies around their necks were arrested by Mulky police on December 6. Both the women were busy stealing chains  during the Shashti festival at Pavanje temple near Haleangady on Monday.

The arrested women have been identified as Muttumari (38), and Nandini (20), both residents of Dindigul in Tamil Nadu. Four chains worth Rs 2.5 lac were seized from their possession. The accused had taken advantage of the rush in the temple on festival day to put their skills to use. Several people had complained to the police of losing their ornaments.

Milky police inspector, Anantapadmanabha, sub-inspectors, Chandrashekharaiah and Shantappa R, and probationary police sub-inspector, Maruti, along with other personnel, had undertaken this operation.
